Dear ROCO Supporter,
About a year ago, after the world had somewhat normalized, I was craving a live concert with both art and music – two pillars of my life that fuel my energy and soul! Thankfully, I came across a multifaceted event to be held at the new POST, featuring music, dance, and poetry. Relieved, I bought the tickets!
The event was the opening of ROCO’s Season 17 Connections Series, Mixed Messages, featuring a string quartet from ROCO in collaboration with Houston Contemporary Dance Company, performing original choreography, and Houston’s Poet Laureate, performing original poetry.
In anticipation of the event, I looked up all of these featured artists. I was struck by ROCO’s Listening Room on their website – the accessibility, the curation, and, most notably, the diversity of classical music, composers, conductors, and musicians.
I was thrilled to have discovered another avenue of music right here in the city! My next exploration was ROCO on the Go, which I first accessed on The Ravine Trail at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, a favorite of mine and my 5-year-old child’s.
Shortly thereafter, my husband and I attended Mixed Messages. We truly enjoyed it, struck up a conversation with one of ROCO’s directors, and as they say, the rest is history! I am currently a member of the ROCO Board and intend to be an Ambassador for life.
More people from all walks of life – here in our diverse city and beyond – need to know about ROCO! And my sincere hope is that we will continue to make classical music beloved by every single person in our community!
Today, I am asking you to join me in making a gift before the end of the year to support ROCO’s 18th season of GRATEFULNESS with its adventurous and accessible programming. Individual giving from music lovers like you and me accounts for nearly 40% of our revenue and greatly assists ROCO in providing programming that unites audiences in our community and worldwide. Your support will help us continue sharing the journey to ROCO!
P.S. Giving $1,000 or more before the end of the year will secure your place on the ROCO on the Go Party Bus Tour on March 5. Together, we will explore our city through music as we visit locations featured in our ROCO on the Go musical scavenger hunt!
