Bio

Keisha Twitchell grew up in a musical family. She began playing piano at age seven, taking lessons from her mother. She switched to French horn in sixth grade and continued with horn all the way through college. She studied music education at New Mexico State University and horn under Nancy Joy.

Ms. Twitchell has been teaching music throughout the greater Houston area since moving from New Mexico in 2012. She has taught private piano and Early Child Music classes for Vivaldi Music Academy, as well as at private preschools in the area. She recently started her first year in public schools through HISD at Park Place Elementary, and loves it even with the current challenges faced due to the pandemic. Keisha has led the ROCOrooters program since 2016.

While she doesn’t play her horn nearly as often anymore, Ms. Twitchell makes music by singing, playing ukulele, guitar, and piano, and hopes to pick up skills on the banjo. Ms. Twitchell believes that music is for everyone, and enjoys sharing her love of music and music learning with everyone she meets. She believes music starts in the home and family, and that is should be celebrated and enjoyed by people of all ages and walks of life.

When she is not teaching, Ms. Twitchell enjoys reading in silence, as she is also a mother to three boys who also enjoy making musical noises daily.
