Growing up in different parts of East and Southeast Texas, Jason has called Houston home for over 20 years.  After college, rather than pursuing a career as a high school band director, he chose two different paths.  Jason joined the Houston Public Library in 2006, where he manages facility assets for 40+ libraries around the city.  But most important of all, he joined ROCO and has served as the orchestra’s librarian (and an occasional encore arranger) since its inaugural season!

Jason has also served as artistic director with the Houston Pride Band from 2006-2011, assistant director from 2011-2014 and as interim artistic director from 2014-15, as well as music arranger and playing bassoon, clarinet and percussion with the group until 2018.  He is currently the music librarian and 2nd bassoonist for the Houston Civic Symphony, a role he has held since 2009.  He has arranged works for both symphonic band and orchestra that have been performed around the country and performed with and conducted ensembles both nationally and internationally.

In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking (and eating), traveling, a good game of spades and, of course, sleeping.
