If Mozart and Beethoven had lived to see the advent of the trap set, would their music be any different?
We sure hope not, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with the masters in venues that are otherwise designated for more informal gatherings — like the Continental Club in Midtown.
A Mozart symphony with a groove only leads to more music playfulness when ROCO partnered with composer and bassist Rick Robinson of CutTime Productions. Rick Robinson also happens to be the composer of choice for ROCO’s 44th commission, which will enjoy its world premiere on Sept. 26-27 during the “Gitcha Groove On!” program.
Get to know Rick Robinson and his style with the video below (or watch it here) that summarizes our evening, with commentary from the composer and ROCO founder and principal oboist Alecia Lawyer. Performers also included Maureen Nelson, Maxine Kuo, Suzanne LeFevre and Matthew McClung.
