Join us as ROCO’s Connections series continues January 22, with a modern twist on a Schubertiade salon concert in the glorious ballroom of Rienzi, and livestreamed at ROCO.org, Facebook, and YouTube!

The evening will feature the world premiere of two new songs by Composer-In-Residence Derek Bermel and author Sandra Cisneros, as well as the song “A House of My Own” from the opera THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET. The three songs are based upon the Cisneros novel of the same name and will become part of the final score for the Bermel/Cisneros opera.

Another piece by Bermel written for solo percussion will also receive its world premiere.
Cecilia Duarte, mezzo-soprano, with Ana María Otamendi, pianist, and Jesús Pacheco Mánuel, percussion will perform these along with works by Schubert, de Falla, Debussy, and others.

Prior to the concert, enjoy a reception of light bites and refreshments, including an opportunity to experience a docent-led tour of Rienzi.
