ROCO celebrates our 12th season, “Go Boldly!” by announcing that Margaret Alkek Williams will be our honoree for ROCO ROCCs dinner Gala, held Saturday, September 24, 2016 after our opening night, 5:00pm concert.
“Dance Like No One is Watching” is the theme of this first concert, at 5pm, at The Church of St. John the Divine. Noted conductor and ROCO favorite, Mei-Ann Chen, will conduct dance pieces such as the Shostakovich Ballet suite #2, Glinka’s Kamarinskaya and the Texas premiere of Dance Card, by Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon. Included will be Fanny Mendelssohn’s (yes, the sister) Overture in C plus a few ROCO surprises.
After the concert, we go up the boulevard to the River Oaks Country Club (ROCC) for dinner, with one of our musicians at every table. No black tie is required and there will be NO silent auction!
We invite you to be a part of our ROCO family by joining us for this opening concert evening. With your table or ticket purchase to ROCO on the ROCCs, you will become a member of the Host Committee. Please help us honor Margaret Alkek Williams and her unwavering support of ROCO’s mission to:
Shape the future of classical music by energizing, modernizing, and personalizing the orchestral experience!
