ROCO brings its 22nd season to a powerful close in Through the Looking Glass, exploring transformation, empathy, and new ways of experiencing the world. Making his ROCO debut, conductor Kensho Watanabe leads Houston’s chamber orchestra in a thrilling season finale on Saturday, May 1, at 5:00 p.m., at Brockman Hall for Opera, Rice University.
Inspired by the life of renowned deaf percussionist Evelyn Glennie, the world premiere of Raphaelle Thibaut‘s Listen is presented with guest dancers and an American Sign Language movement artist. The Houston Youth Symphony returns as special guest, joining ROCO for a side-by-side performance of Felix Mendelssohn‘s The Fair Melusina. The program also includes Anthony DiLorenzo‘s fantastical Jabberwocky, a beloved 2014 ROCO commission, and the unmistakable French charm of Francis Poulenc‘s colorful Sinfonietta, FP 141.
