The final concert of the In Concert series on May 4, “The Wrestler,” features the world premiere of Erberk Eryılmaz’s Wrestling Airs for Two Davuls and Chamber Orchestra (in memory of Koca Yusuf) – showcasing the festivity and drama of a traditional Turkish wrestling match, and honoring the legendary 19th century wrestler. Conductor David Danzmayr returns to ROCO with one of his favorite pieces, Jocelyn Morlock’s Solace, while organ soloist Paul Jacobs returns for Samuel Barber’s Toccata Festiva, and the program concludes with Franz Schubert’s haunting unfinished Symphony No. 10, in a reconstruction by music scholar Brian Newbould.
ROCOrooters is available during all of ROCO’s In Concert performances at The Church of St. John the Divine, and offers up to 6 hours of childcare under the supervision of certified and bonded childcare professionals. A night out for you, and music education and childcare for kids! Cost is $35 per child, and ages 2 months to 10 years are welcome.
