Ali Jackson, a professional tubist from the Sugar Land area since 1999, performs with a variety of Houston-area ensembles, such as ROCO, the Houston Brass Band, Sugar Land Winds, Heights 5 Brass Quintet, and the Deep Steel Thunder (NFL Texans Band). When not performing, Ali serves as a Band Director in Houston ISD, at Lovett Elementary, and he enjoys teaching low brass private lessons. Since his initial teaching appointment at the age of 16 for First Colony Middle School, Ali’s students have enjoyed consistent success in auditions as well as in solo competitions. Mr. Jackson’s students have gone on to become a myriad of successful musicians, including active freelance musicians, and a university professor of tuba/euphonium and a two-time first-chair All-State Tuba player. Ali also has taught several multi-year TMEA All-State Tuba participants. Ali’s hobbies include Hi-Fi audio equipment, working on cars, studying severe weather, deejay, and home improvement.
