Ways to Give

Only a fraction of our operating budget comes from ticket sales. ROCO relies on the generosity of our fans, friends, and sponsors to continue presenting great musical performances. Every donation – no matter what size – helps us realize our mission of “creating personal relationships through music.”

There are many ways to support ROCO. River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, IRS Tax ID 30-0288750. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

There are a number of ways an individual may contribute to ROCO. Take a look at these options and contact Development Director, Paige Myrick, for more information.

Sponsor a Musician Chair or Join a Consortium

One of ROCO’s core values is building relationships between audience members and musicians. We do this in a party by surrounding our musicians and artists with personalized support. You can help by making a gift towards ROCO which will be recognized as sponsorship of an individual musician.

We also have three consortiums that you can join that brings groups of people together to collectively support musicians or initiatives.

Founding Consortium: Supports several musicians chairs
Conductors Consortium: Supports ROCO’s guest conductors
Commissioning Consortium: Supports ROCO’s composers and commissioning of new works

Stock Transfers

Consider donating appreciated securities (stocks, bonds or mutual funds you’ve held for more than one year) to ROCO. By doing so, you may be able to reduce or avoid capital gains taxes and receive a federal income tax charitable deduction. Fill out a stock transfer form (PDF)

Planned Giving

There are many different ways to support the mission of ROCO, but when you plan a gift as part of your overall estate and financial plans, you will allow us to continue to provide a core cultural asset in Houston and beyond. With your gift, you could also receive substantial tax and financial benefits.

Matching Gifts

Many employers have matching gifts programs – does yours? Employers will often match any monetary gift an employee makes or make a monetary donation for each volunteer hour the employee gives to the community. See if your company matches here.

Honorarium & Tributes

Consider honoring the birthdays and anniversaries of your loved ones with a gift to ROCO in their name. To make a tribute gift, fill out the information on our “Donate” page, and near the bottom select the appropriate options in the ‘In Tribute’ section. There you will have opportunity to say who you are honoring and if you would like us to send a note on your behalf.

Memoriam

Keep a friend or loved one’s giving spirit alive through a donation in their name. In place of flowers, consider giving to ROCO in memory of a loved one. To make a gift in memory of someone, fill out the information on our “Donate” page, and near the bottom select the appropriate options in the ‘In Tribute’ section. There you will have opportunity to say who you giving in memory of and if you would like us to send a note on your behalf. Recurring Gifts

Recurring giving provides a steady source of income for ROCO, allowing us to create more experiences for greater audiences. Setting up a monthly, quarterly or annual gift is an easy and convenient way to make a difference all year long. You can set up an automatic donation in one of two ways:

Contact your bank about a recurring, automatic payment (via bank-issued check)

Give us your credit card information and we can set up an automatic draft from the desired card

We invite you to join the Host Committee of our annual gala, ROCO Revelry, by purchasing a table or tickets to the event. Learn more about ROCO Revelry here!

Whether your company or organization has $2,000 or $200,000 set aside for charitable giving – we have an opportunity for you to get involved.

Become a title sponsor for one of our annual fundraising events. Provide a year’s worth of funding for a consortium or a musician’s chair. Underwrite a program or a service. Or let us tailor a specific program to your company’s budget and philanthropic needs.

We welcome the opportunity to sit down with you to discuss potential sponsorship possibilities.

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and we can help complete it and send it with your gift. The impact of your gift could be doubled!

Each year, grants from foundations account for approximately one third of the ROCO operating budget. This represents a substantial – and critical – source of funding for our organization.

Foundations have the opportunity to support our programs, underwrite our education and community outreach efforts or provide general operating assistance. Trustees interested in endowment opportunities may prefer to restrict their grant, making a gift that lasts in perpetuity.

ROCO also offers naming opportunities and welcomes challenge grants.

Whether you prefer concerts, salons, or community activities, ROCO has an event to suit your style. Examples include, but are not limited to, our annual Yuletide Concert at Bayou Bend, Beer & Brass at St. Arnold Brewery, our “In Concert” series, any single concert, or more. We have a steady stream of special events going on at any given time, so check out our calendar of events to see what’s happening this month.

When you shop, Amazon gives. Your prices on Amazon won’t change, and a portion of every purchase you make will be given to ROCO. It’s really that simple.
